We may have the solution for you, this is a direct replacement convertible top lift cylinder for your car, we do not sell used, rebuilt or 'universal fit' cylinders or pumps. The Buick Riviera convertible cars made in the 1980's could have been made by either Hess & Eisenhardt or ASC (American Sunroof Corporation), they will usually have a tag in the door jamb or under the trunk lid with the name of the manufacturer.  Another way to tell if you have a Hess & Eisenhardt conversion is that it will have chrome 'suitcase' style latches above the windshield and the ASC cars have a painted latch that swings to the side over the side windows. The cylinders are sold 'each' and fit either side and come with a 5 year warranty when used with automatic transmission fluid.
