The rear tacking rail (also called the trim stick) is located at the rear of the car, the convertible top and rear window staple to it and then the rear tacking rail is bolted into the car. On many cars the rear tacking rail is rusted away or the original tacking material is falling out, we use a galvanized channel with a plastic tacking material pressed in, the new tacking material holds staples better than the original and will never fall apart.

The rear tacking rail is formed to the same curves as the original and the holes are drilled (or slots milled in depending on the style). If you are going through the time and expense to replace your top or restore your car this is cheap insurance to make sure your top stays tight and looking good for a long time.

Convertible Specialists is now manufacturing trim sticks (rear tacking rails) for convertibles at our facility. We have patterns & tooling for most popular models and for those we do not yet manufacture we will be able to duplicate yours with a 'decent' original. Extensive research has been applied to these parts to achieve a great fit, along with quality materials for long lasting use. Here is your opportunity to buy directly from the manufacturer and as always feel free to call if you have any questions about any of our parts.

This rear tacking rail fits the 1970-1971 Dodge Challenger & Plymouth Barracuda convertible cars.
