This is the rear tacking rail (also called a rear floating bow), the convertible top staples to the rear tacking rail. On many cars the rear tacking rail rusts out or the tacking material deteriorates and falls out, if you are taking the time and expense to replace your convertible top, now is the time to replace your rear tacking rail also.
